Description
It is a wooden katana, also called bokuto. Its use became popular in the Muromachi period (1336-1600) when warriors began to use it in the art of dueling rather than on the battlefield. It is currently used in Iaijutsu or Kenjutsu, documented in the 17th century. Kenjutsu is a technique of Kobujutsu and is the origin of Kendo. It is a must in Kata training. The most popular material is red oak or white oak.
Made of beech wood of first quality. Completely handmade of gouge and brush respecting tradition. With a traditional dimension of Japanese bokken: 1023 mm (L) and 40 mm (W), with a handle of 270 mm (L) and 40 mm (W) in an elliptical shape. Ideal for practice with contact for its lightness, balance and high strength. The finishing has an elegant walnut color.
